American Councils for International Education is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving relations between countries and promoting cooperation through educational initiatives. It develops, implements, and supports innovative programs in the United States, Europe, Eurasia, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

American Councils in Latvia

The American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS (American Councils) office in Latvia was established in September 2015. It is located in the city center of Riga, at Marijas Street 2a, Novira Plaza office building. The office is actively involved in administering various programs such as Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX), Open World Program, Overseas Professional and Intercultural Training (OPIT), Title VIII Research Scholar Program, Rise, and Iacocca International Internship Program (IIIP). 

The office team works closely with the U.S. Embassy in Riga and has established strong partnerships with other key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education and Science, American Corners, and local community organizations and associations across the country.

In addition, we have a group of dedicated FLEX Alumni who actively implement and develop various social projects, as well as share their experience and knowledge with others.

Since 1974, the organization’s educational portfolio has continued to grow to include 184 countries important to national security, prosperity, and peace. The programs are backed by thorough research to ensure their quality and integrity. Our participants represent a spectrum of learners, from high school through the postdoctoral and professional level.

To date, we have built a community of more than 120,000 alumni, including national leaders, ministers, members of parliament, ambassadors, and CEOs.
